Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Live Now
After three months full of rumors of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 being left out of Android 4.4 Kitkat update, finally the Kitkat Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now being rolled out. As always, the said update is not yet available to all the users and only the International variant (N7100) is receiving the update, but hopefully, all other variants will get the update shortly.
As for the S3, the update is set to be released somewhere in May. In March, a leaked Samsung document indicated that both the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 updates will be released in April – May time frame. Now that Galaxy Note 2 is getting updated to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, we are pretty sure that Galaxy S3 will soon get it.
The Kitkat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 is labeled N7100XXUFND3 and only available to some regions, so we can assume the update is being rolled out in phrases and soon hit the other regions too.
Its not yet available through OTA so you might wanna grab you USB cable and check for the update via Samsung KIES application. If you prefer over the air updates then you should wait for the updates to be available for your variants.
As soon as the firmware files will be available to download over the air, as usual you will see notification in the notification bar. If your device isn't set to Auto Update, you can easily update your phone manually by opening Settings menu on your Note 2, then go to About Phone option. Then in the Software Updates section, hit the 'check for updates' button. After downloading the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat firmware files for your phone, simply hit the Install button, after few seconds your device will automatically restart to complete the installation process.
In the new update you will get the usual software tweaks and some little changes in the UI too. If you haven't yet read our previous post on Official Android 4.4.2 Kitkat for Samsung Galaxy S4, Kitkat for Note 2 brings white status bar icons, cloud printing, new Location Menu, camera app shortcut for the lockscreen, immersive mode(hiding the status bar and going into full screen), updated Samsung Keyboard, updated KNOX, Samsung Wallet, some other minor TouchWiz UI tweaks.
If your Note 2 have already received the update, let us know where are you from and how you got the update, through OTA or via KIES.
