Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Update: Leaked change log reveals upcoming bug fixes

Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 Kitkat Update Fixes

After the Kitkat 4.4.2 update, the first details of Google's next Android update have supposedly been revealed via a leak which reveals the upcoming bug fixes.

Android Police has received the alleged changelog of the next Android 4.4.3 update through a trustworthy source that claims that the Google's next Android update is primarily for bug fixes.

The bug, which first surfaced on Nexus 5 with 4.4.2 Kitkat a long time ago, basically causes the CPU to go into overdrive when the camera app is launched, or when camera is to be accessed from Skype app, and the resulting runaway CPU use drains the battery. Which actually caused the battery drain to continue even after the camera app has been closed. The issue is affecting other devices with Kitkat 4.4.2 installed too, but the Android 4.4.3 update is purely to fix the issues with Nexus 5, mainly issues with the camera.

According to the changelog, the new Android 4.4.3 update is supposed to bring fixes to the 'mm-qcamera-daemon' crash and optimization. As we already explained, after the Nexus 5 smartphone release, most users noted the handsome smartphone by Google to be affected by a new battery drain issue, which was due to high CPU usage of the 'mm-qcamera-daemon' process that led to the battery dying sooner than expected.

According to the tipster's report, the expected Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will offer the following fixes:

  • mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
  • Camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
  • Frequent data connection dropout fix
  • Power Manager display wakelock fix
  • Multiple Bluetooth fixes
  • Fix for a random reboot
  • USB debugging security fix
  • App shortcuts security fix
  • Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
  • Other camera fixes
  • MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
  • Stuck in activation screen fix
  • Missed call LED fix
  • Subtitle fixes
  • Data usage graph fix
  • Internet telephony fix
  • FCC compliance fix
  • Miscellaneous fixes

If everything goes smoothly, Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release could happen within two weeks. As we said earlier, this update fixes only Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 bugs as shown in the leaked report too. Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 owners will more than likely get the update as well given that they have been experiencing problems within Android 4.4.2 KitKat too.
