BBM update brings new stickers, larger attachments and group photo sharing

The Canadian company, BlackBerry, has announced that, starting today, a new update is available for download on all three major platforms (Android, BlackBerry and iOS).


The latest version of BBM has been confirmed to introduce Stickers via BBM Shop, with support for larger file attachments, picture sharing in group chats. These are not just regular emoticons but expressive images and users can now add them to their BBM chats too.

Though these Stickers don't come for free, so you will need to pay for them first and then download sticker packs from the new BBM Shop found in BBM if you want to use this new feature.  These Stickers will be sold in packs containing between 20 and 25 pieces. BBM will also supports files up to 16 MB (Up from 10 MB)from now on and users can now share photos, stickers too, in group chats.

There will be sticker packs available for free as well, but mostly they will cost $1.99, or an approximate equivalent amount in the local currency.


Even though Blackberry might be struggling to compete in the smartphone market against the popular brands like Apple and Samsung, its BBM App actually has a higher engagement level in major European markets than other popular messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Viber and LINE, and today's update somewhat provides BBM more leverage for its users to stay with them.


According to BlackBerry, the latest update for BBM is slowly being rolled out to users via Google Play, App Store and BlackBerry World, so it might not be available in all regions at the same time.
